Mining Moratorium in Palawan

This primer examines the continuing loss of Palawan’s natural forests due to mining, quarrying, and large monocrop plantations such as oil palm and hybrid coconut. It discusses their impacts on biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples, livelihoods, water sources, and local communities. It also calls for stronger environmental safeguards, meaningful public participation, proper FPIC processes, and a moratorium on the conversion of Palawan’s remaining natural forests.
